Lady Gaga’s Little Monsters are rallying on Twitter against none other than Lady Gaga herself. It all started when the pop star tweeted that she doesn’t remember her 2013 album, ARTPOP, which featured beloved cuts including “Applause” and “Venus.

” To say the least, hysteria ensued. Since the tweet, fans have been flooding Gaga with shame for dragging the art to filth, and are even offering to refresh her memory.

Simple enough to cause a frenzy

Lady Gaga’s brilliant-yet-misunderstood album, which in retrospect was clearly too ahead of its time for most listeners to appreciate, was originally released six years ago and featured the incredible singles Applause, Do What U Want and G.U.Y. Unfortunately, the era was mired with controversy – the biggest being R Kelly’s feature appearance on Do What U Want, leading to a scrapped music video – and the album divided fans and never received the acclaim it deserved from critics.

So it’s understandable that Gaga may not look back too fondly on the album or the era surrounding it. Still, it maintains a special place in the hearts of a small but vocal group of fans, and they weren’t too pleased to see their fave shade the record.

You don’t remember?!

“I don’t remember ARTPOP,” she tweeted on Monday night and that was enough to have caused a wave of melodramatic reactions.

The post currently has almost 200,000 likes and thousands of fans replying with confusion. Some have seen the funny side, others are disappointed with the throwaway comment about an album that clearly means a lot to them.

Cries from fans everywhere

Madeon, the French producer and DJ who worked on three ARTPOP songs – Venus, Mary Jane Holland, and Gypsy – even got involved, tweeting about how Gaga was missing out on some of the greatest moments into history of music.
