OnePlus is now rolling out Android 10 updates to the OnePlus 6 and 6T smartphones which were released in 2018.

In the OnePlus 7T Pro launch event last month, OnePlus promised that it would roll out Android 10 update to OnePlus 6 series by the end of October. Notably, OnePlus already updated the OnePlus 7 series to Android 10, and now, it’s time for the OnePlus 6 and 6T
smartphones.

OnePlus says both the smartphones from 2018 will get OxygenOS 10.0 update, similar to the OnePlus 7 and 7T series. As for the features, OxygenOS 10.0 brings all the new Android 10 features introduced by Google alongside the company’s brand new design, new customization feature inside the Settings app, new Game Space and so on.

There are a lot of new features added by OnePlus to both the smartphones. Firstly, the overall system has been upgraded to Android along with OxygenOS’s new UI design.

As you might be aware of by now, Google released enhanced location permissions for privacy with Android 10 and the same has been implemented by OnePlus as well. Android 10’s revamped gestural navigation also makes it into the OnePlus 6 and 6T smartphones.

Older OnePlus phones like the OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro retained OxygenOS gestures, but the newly launched OnePlus 7T and 7T Pro devices only offer the gestural navigation of Android 10.

OnePlus also confirmed that a new customization feature had been added in the Settings app allowing users to choose icon shapes, font and so on. There are also general bug fixes and improvements to enhance the overall user experience.

OnePlus also added Game Space to the OnePlus 6 and 6T smartphones with the OxygenOS 10.0 update. Game Space feature brings all the favorite games in one place for easier access and better gaming experience.

Furthermore, the update also brings Contextual Display which shows intelligent information based on particular times, locations and events for Ambient Display. Lastly, the OnePlus Messages app now has the ability to block spam by keywords for Message.

The Chinese company also says the Hide Notch option is currently not available on this version. For those unaware, the OnePlus 6 features a traditional notch whereas the OnePlus 6T has the teardrop notch on top of the display that houses the selfie camera.

Similar to every other update rollout from the house of OnePlus, the OxygenOS 10.0 for OnePlus 6 series is also a staged one. The OTA update will reach only a limited number of users today and will have a broader rollout in a few days.

The reason behind the staged rollout is the company makes sure there are no critical bugs. It will also take feedback from the users who received the update in the first batch.
