Billie Lourd celebrated her mom Carrie Fisher’s birthday on Saturday by getting a new tattoo. The late Fisher, who would have turned 61, had a celestial tattoo on her ankle.
Lourd got her own version of the ink in the same spot and posted a side-by-side comparison on Instagram.
The 25-year-old actress tagged tattoo artist Dr. Woo in the post. Woo posted his own photo of the tattoo on his account, writing, “For @praisethelourd.
Tribute for her mom today, on her birthday.”
It doesn’t seem to be the first time the mother and daughter have matched.
Lourd, who frequently posts throwback photos of her mom and late grandmother Debbie Reynolds, also shared a sweet snap of herself and Fisher in coordinating outfits, spelling out “Happy birthday, Mommy” in emojis for the photo’s caption.
Lourd, who currently stars on American Horror Story, has been open about her experience after losing both Fisher and Reynolds within a day of each other last December.
She told her co-star Sarah Paulson that, I have always kind of lived in their shadows, and now is the first time in my life I get to own my life and stand on my own.
She also added, I love being my mother’s daughter and it’s something I always will be, but now I get to be just Billie.
Lourd also called the two women “goddesses” last month, telling Ellen DeGeneres that losing them was “completely surreal.”
Lourd’s tattoo wasn’t the only tribute to Fisher on social media Saturday.
Her therapy dog Gary, who recently saw the actress in the new trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi, shared a photo of the two of them cuddling on his own Instagram account.
“Happy birthday mom, I sure do miss you and the cozy days,” the adorable photo’s caption reads.
Fisher’s Star Wars co-star Mark Hamill also posted an old photo of the two of them dancing together, adding the hashtag #AlwaysWithUs.
