Luis Suarez will stay at Barcelona for treatment over the international break

-

FC Barcelona has announced on Friday that Luis Suarez won’t be traveling with the Uruguay squad during the international break and instead will stay at the club and take treatment for a physical condition.

Club football is put on a pause after the weekend’s action, with Oscar Tabarez’s Uruguay side set to play two friendlies against Peru. They will be without the most prolific player of the side— Luis Suarez.

Barcelona confirmed that Uruguay has agreed to the decision allowing Suarez to remain at the club for “medical recovery” which is “part of their customized work plan.”

Nothing has been confirmed about what kind of treatment Suarez will be undergoing at the club or any suggestion that he has sustained a fresh injury.

Balugranas play their last La Liga game before the international break on Sunday at their home against Sevilla.

Over the last couple of years, Suarez has struggled physically. Fans have called out the striker’s fitness multiple times and have complained about his lack of speed and being ‘overweight’. The striker, however, has taken his fitness very seriously following a monumentally disastrous end to an otherwise good season after the humbling at Anfield at the hands of Liverpool.

According to the reports, the 32-year-old striker has even tried to fix his knee issues multiple times which has plagued him for months. This latest medical treatment could possibly be an extension of this recovery process.

Barcelona has endured a string of injury troubles and fitness related issues in recent times. Many have questioned the coach’s fitness related practiced due to this.

The Uruguayan striker has been in stunning form recently, scoring a few brilliant goals over the last couple of weeks. FC Barcelona surely needs their beloved striker at his best if they aspire to win the UEFA Champions’ League.
