Obama under fire for dropping referances to the definition of Islamic terrorism
The Obama administration has come under considerable fire for removing rhetorical references to Islamic radicalism. Terror experts in the US have warned the president, saying that this decision ignores the role which religion can play in motivating a terrorist for his actions.
Several critics have urged the government to make specific definitions of “terrorism “. The Obama government is facing a very difficult situation, as he intends to mend his relation with the Muslim communities, while maintaining his stance on militant terrorism practiced by different Muslim terrorist groups.
On a counter argument, President Obama has argued that the use of inflammatory or derogatory description s can help the terrorist organizations in actually propagating its philosophy of hatred against the US in the minds of innocent Muslims.
The report holds considerable significance in the wake of recent terror attack against the US where Maj. Nidal Hasan shot and killed numerous US soldiers at Fort Hood. He is said to have been influenced by reading provocative internet postings by an Islamic terrorist organization which he described as “ inspiring “.
The debate has reached the White house and is expected to dominate the scene for quite some time until a definite definition for terrorism can be discovered.
