Android Apps Can Leave Users Vulnerable to Damage, Says New Report

SMobile Systems, a security software maker, has issues a new report entitled “Threat Analysis of the Android Market” which claims that one out of every five apps on the market for Android devices allow third party access to sensitive details about the user. 
The security vendor looked at more than 48,000 applications to come up with their data, approximately 68% of the number of apps available on the Android Market at this time.  SMobile warns that Google’s current system of user policing of app issues is leaving a “window of opportunity” …

Want iPhone 4 Early?  Hit Radio Shack

Radio Shack one of the few retailers to participate in the pre-launch phase of the newest Apple iPhone.  The stores were briefed earlier this week, according to an insider, and there followed several conference calls involving Apple, regional managers and individual managers of the Radio Shack locations.

Sprint’s Evo 4G Smashes Sales Records

Sprint-Nextel’s launch June 4 of their new HTC Evo 4G smartphone had a record breaking first day’s sales.  The last best single day record for the company was the Palm Pre.
The company didn’t disclose specific figures but did reveal that some of their 22,000 outlets quickly ran out of the phones and at some locations, customers were lined up out the door to get to them.

Bing Cashback Program Ends

As of July 30, the Bing Cashback progam will be history.  According to Microsoft, the program is ending due to there being a lot less interest in the program than initially hoped for.
